Sleeping essentials

I have a long time girlfriend whom I have proposed. Well, she’s my wife now. It’s almost a month since we got married. You know the saying that you only get to know your love only when you are married? I think that’s true. Last week, she told me that she we need to buy a new bed even if she pays for it. I asked her why and found that she doesn’t want iron bed headboards. She is just not comfortable. She also likes to buy two more pillows even if we don’t have any more room in the bed.

Garage sale addict

I went to three garage sales this week. I really need some stuff in the apartment but I don’t have even a decent budget. So, I ventured into the garage sales I learned about in the hopes that I would find the ones I need. The first day was the best because I got to buy the oak bedroom furniture I really need. The second one gave me a couch for my small living room and the third one provided me with some appliances. I just had to make sure that they are all worth the price.

Designing my bed headboards

Posted by mitch on Aug-23-2010

I watched this do it yourself video of bed headboards on You Tube last week. After that, I think I got obsessed with the idea of changing my bed headboards. I looked up several articles that would show me how to actually do it. Good thing I ended up with a few good ones. Yesterday, I finally got to put all that knowledge to good use. I designed my own bed headboard. I initially wanted a bed headboard with wood carvings but settled on a foamed design. My wife picked out the fabric I used for covering the foam. The project went well. I hope it is as sturdy as I hope it would be.

Remodeling my bedroom

I got this feeling yesterday that I need change in my life. So, I started in my bedroom. I moved my oak bedroom furniture near my bed so I would have more free space on the other side of the room. Then, I bought a change of curtains and quickly washed them up. I also got to sort of have a general cleaning session the entire day. Along the way, I stumbled upon some memorabilia that really reminded me of people I miss. I made a note to remind myself that I should give those people a call soon.

Bed headboards

I always envy bed headboards that have foams. The one we have at home is made of solid wood. Yes, it is very sturdy but sometimes I bump my head in it when I sleep. My husband must have probably been noticing my affixation with foamed bed headboards. Yesterday, I went out early for work. I called him up at his office when I was about to get home and found that he took the day off. I went straight home just to find him installing a new foamed bed headboard to our bed. Apparently, it’s a surprise early birthday gift. That’s so sweet of him.

Purchasing bedroom pieces

We’re moving to a new house and we have an additional room for one of the kids. We really picked that house so that the two kids won’t have to share rooms anymore. So, when we finally got to settle in. We brought our eldest to bedroom furniture shopping. She only has a new bed but she doesn’t have a cabinet or dresser. I picked out an oak bedroom furniture set because it looks sturdy. I asked my daughter if she likes it and said she does. I was wondering why she immediately gave in when I noticed that the set comes with a dresser with a vanity mirror. I guess the teen in her is getting vain!

Varnishing wood furniture

Posted by mitch on Aug-18-2010

Last week, I went to a DIY store with a friend. The atmosphere that you can do everything at home probably got into me. Yesterday, I came back to the store and bought some wood varnish. I also grabbed a couple of stuff and kits just in case I would feel to do something more. I went to get our oak bedroom furniture pieces and moved them in my work area. To make the story short, I applied wood varnish to every wood furniture we have at home. My sister was teasing me that I’m becoming the DIY freak.
