Liz told of Alex’s indomitable spirit, which inspired others, even as she battled her own cancer. Even after Alex passed away at age 8, people continue to be moved by her story and support her cause.  A student in the class, Stefen Himmelstein, age 10 approached his father, Robert, to ask how he could help. As owner of Surfside Casual Furniture in Somers Point, N.J., as well as the 2010 RNS Showhouse Windsong on Wesley in Ocean City, N.J., Robert Himmelstein worked directly with Alex’s Lemonade Stand to create a fundraiser.
