Decorating ideas for trailor?

Posted by Jade Martins on Sep-22-2010

Does anyone have any ideas on a 80′s model mobile home? the ceiling has dark brown plastic beams and there is a white plastic faux brick panel on one wall. all the other walls are white.
please help if anyone has any ideas. anything is appreciated. thank you.
thank you! but im renting it so i cant rip it off or trust me i would. i just need some ideas of something to do with it, to make it look better and not so tacky.

I lived in that same trailer! We ripped everything off the walls, tore the fake beams off the ceilings, and started from scratch. Sheetrock is about $5.00 for a 4X8 sheet where I live. It was well worth the money. Then you can have fun with paint.

Ideas for home decorating – resort, holistic style?

Posted by Jade Martins on Aug-15-2010

Hey everyone..

I just bought my first home and now want to decorate it.

My house has a gorgeous outdoor entertaining area with a Koi pond and a Buddha waterfall flowing into it, I also have shade sails everywhere and bamboo fencing,

I love the tranquil feeling of the backyard and would like to decorate the rest of the house to reflect a "holistic, relaxing, resort" type feel.

I can see what I like in my head but when I try to translate it with furnuture etc.. somehow It all goes/looks wrong. I’m really struggling to complete the feel.

If anyone can help with images or links to good sites It would be so much appreciated

Thanks guys :)

just an idea

any ideas for decorating a wall?

Posted by Jade Martins on Jun-2-2010

i rent my home and i have this wall in my kitchen that is pretty rotten. i dont know if its just water damage or ant or termite. but i do not want to get into tearing it out and replacing it just to get in way over our heads. the landlord dont care. this house to him is out of site -out of mind. anyway, i saw this new show, or new to me, about these people who go get junk and make really cool home remodeling out if it. i have been thinking about having my mom paint a tin of a barn roof or what ever you use it for and placing it over the entire wall to hide the nasty looking wall, but then figured if it got wet, it would just rust. but then i had a couple other ideas. but not sure what would work with that wall getting wet.. like putting that putty up for texturing your wall how you want it but something that would level the wall and put up a mock how people build mock windows or i thought about mock cabinet fronts. is making sense? i dont want to do anything and it slide off due to water, i know i can nail things into the studs, but i am not a decorator. but i do know there is a way to make it look nice with out it looking like it was redneck engineered. any help out there?
the wall is warpped and has a hole i it towards the baseboards. we used those kind of stickers in my daughters room and it looks great but it wont work for the kitchen.

Make sure you scrub it down before any cover. If the wall is damp, treat it with a mold killer (cheap disinfectant will usually do) as you don’t want to get sick.

I’d just paper it in cut up ads and then seal it with a clear coat for cleaning.

Create Oriental Designs With Japanese Decorating

Posted by Jade Martins on May-1-2010

When it comes to decorating the home, oriental designs have become extremely popular over the past few years. Japanese decorating has taken the world by storm and now everything seems to be about peace and simplicity as well as natural and beautiful designs. So just what are oriental designs and just how can you use them within your home?

Using Oriental Designs to Decorate the Home

Oriental designs can include a number of things from paintings to rugs and gardens to tattoos. They have basically taken over everything and it is certainly no surprise!

Generally oriental designs are a lot more artistic than any other design and they are created with plenty of color and life. They make any house seem more like a home and they truly are beautiful to look at. Whether you choose to use a simple oriental rug, or whether you choose to go all out and decorate all of your walls, oriental designs can be used in a variety of ways.

There are a few different varieties of oriental designs and some are simple Japanese or Chinese letters of the alphabet. There is something about using a language which looks intriguing, that makes people’s homes inviting and peaceful. Each Chinese or Japanese word used in oriental designs usually means something significant such as ‘peace’ or ‘love’. The ideas behind the design are generally what encourage people to use them in their homes.

When you are out searching for an oriental design, ensure that you shop in the right places. There are quite a lot of shops claiming to sell authentic oriental designs, yet they turn out to be completely fake. So, if you are looking for something authentic it may be better to do your research first and ensure that the designs are truly what they say they are.

As well as main decorating such as on walls and on the floor, oriental designs can also add to the smallest of touches. Cushion covers, sofa throws and even dishes can be turned into oriental creations. It really depends on just how oriental you want to take your home. Do you just want to add a few little touches or do you want to go all out and decorate the whole house in an oriental theme? Whatever you want it is achievable and you can find design ideas on the internet and in local craft stores.

Unique decorating ideas for renters.?

Posted by Jade Martins on Apr-30-2010

I am a military wife and our family is constantly moving. We are always renting our home and cannot add permanent decorating fixtures. What are some unique decorating ideas for families on the move?

You want things you can move easily without damage. One way to brighten the dull walls are fabric tapestries with poles top and bottom to keep them solid on the wall. They don’t have to be actual tapestries but the same concept with material you can even paint a solid color with a design http://www.greenyourdecor.com/276/propeller-hanging-fabric-panels-from-inhabit/

Another thing to personalize space are folding screens..These have a million uses and as many styles

Find an architectural column and put a vase with flowers on it. http://www.artistinakids.com/images/other7big.jpg

And of course wall decals can be taken down and used on the new place http://www.lushlee.com/images/wall-floor-decor/09/3/decorative-wall-decal2.jpg

Need Home Decorating Ideas?

Posted by Jade Martins on Apr-25-2010

I am in the process of redecorating my bathroom. I am thinking of a red and tan theme, however am too nervous to pain the entire room red. These are my inspired curtains, http://www.target.com/Home-Chenille-Window-Panel-Gold/dp/B001Q8XTKS/ref=sc_qi_collection_item_3?ie=UTF8&altString=Home%20Chenille%20Window%20Panel%20-%20Red%2FGold.

. What ideas do you have?

The curtains aren’t really red-red so I wouldn’t do red walls.

I would either do a goldenly beige like Pittsfield Bluff or a dark brown like Middlebury Brown (both Benjamin Moore).
