Tips on Selling your House Fast

Posted by Jade Martins on Apr-18-2011

First impressions always last. This is also true when it comes to selling your house. If you want to find the right buyer and fast, there are some things that you can do to attract attention first. With the competition that you will probably have, you will need to do your best to make your home something worth buying. Here are tips by the pros on how to do this.

• Set a realistic price.

• Remove wallpaper and then paint with warm, neutral colors. Home decorating catalogs usually feature these natural colors.

• Eliminate pet odors.

• Reduce clutter. If you have carpets for example, you can choose to remove them and show the floor instead. This will help buyers invasion what color they would want for the floor.

• Clean thoroughly all parts of the house, including the carpet. If the carpet is in poor condition but covers wood floors, pull it up and refinish the floors.

• “Depersonalize” the house of unique colors, displays of collections and hobbies, and family pictures so buyers can envision themselves moving in. Potential buyers may feel they are invading your personal space if you keep such personal items there.

• Make sure there are at least 10 high-quality photos of the interior and exterior on your agent’s website.

Last Minute Decorating from Pottery Barn

Posted by Jade Martins on Dec-22-2010

PotteryBarn has one of the nicest catalogs I’ve seen this season. The good thing is that they have an online version of the catalogs that they usually send out in the mail.  This was great because for some reason, someone took the catalog from my table and never returned it.

The decorations and the setups just look so joyous that I’ve decided to copy a bunch of their setups when I decide to redecorate next year. What I also like about them is that you can order every single piece that they have exactly on the catalog so if you decide to do a 1:1 reproduction, it’s theoretically possible (with enough money).

You still have a couple of hours to get your shopping done since they offer RUSH delivery of products that will get in time for Christmas!
