14th B-day, party game ideas… anyone? Please?

Posted by Jade Martins on Feb-22-2010

So my 14th birthday is around the corner and I have very little idea what I’m going to do, no games come to mind! I desperately need games!!

My house is small, but the downstairs is fairly open. We’re not allowed upstairs during parties because it’s small and my brothers’ rooms are too close to my own for courtesy.

The only other circumstance is to try to avoid my grump-munster bros (and my dad -but the whole time he‘ll probably be building something or sleeping for his work (nightshift, luckily). (around five to seven 13/14 year old girls running around, maybe my friend Matt, (but Matt’s gay [literally, not jerkish insult] so it’s not going to waver anything, he’ll be going home before the sleepover itself, assuming he attends)
So far, I know this will be going on:
1. —It’s a slumber party, we’ll crash all over the T.V/living room.
2. ——During the day we’ll have the first two Twilight Saga films playing for a few hours, but afterwards we’re going to have a continuous marathon of lame horror vampire movies. (captions, no sound, it’s mostly for people not enjoying the particular game)
3.—–We’re probably going to do makeovers.
4.— Only healthy snacks, and that’s already planned as far as my mom says. No candy (I’m getting braces in march). No cake, but awesome decorated cupcakes (in case that sparks inspiration)
5—-I know I’ll have a ton of music, letting the guests send me individual playlists so everyone gets what they like.
6—- I’m a June baby, so we might be going outside, but it’s not likely because it’s usually buggy and hot. No pool, no trampoline, only a small wooden play-gym and open space for about 12 feet by 10 feet. No pool party, and no lual because my mom doesn’t want to spend too much money.
7—- I live in inland CT, so a three hour drive to the beach is out of the question :’(

But other than those ideas, I have to find a way to fill 48 hours with very entertaining activities that girls (and a feminine guy for about a quarter of that time) can play and be entertained by.

Well, thats alot if info….which makes it harder to plan a party! Well at my friends birthday, we did blind folded makeovers..and im close to your age soo it was fun. Maybe you can have ur parents by icecream stuff to make sundaes..we also made homemade ice cream…look on the internet. We alo played kick the can at like 3 in the morning outside. It doesnt really matter if its hot and buggy…you could find ANYTHING to do outside. I know you didnt want to spend TONS of money..but you could borrow a trampoline from the neighbors or something if they have 1. There is always ways to negotation. You could have a water balloon fight! Well thats all I got, enjoy your party! Hope I helped somehow:)

Best of Luck!

Tips For Planning Your Student Travel Excursions

Posted by Jade Martins on Feb-20-2010

While school is a lovely place to explore history, math, English and science, there are many students who embark on journeys just to get a break from the classroom and campus. Student travel is a popular way to catch up with family and friends, catch new experiences, catch fresh air or sun rays, in some cases. From taking a cultural trip to partying during Spring Break, there are plenty of ways students take trips about the world. Below, you will find some of the most common aspects of student travel.

Studying Abroad

Depending on your major, the majority of higher learning institutions have utilized the beauty of in-depth, on-site learning that is accomplished through studying abroad. This particular opportunity usually accompanies various majors and concentrations, such as taking a cultural trip to the Dominican Republic to study Latin American history.

Usually, for one semester, students will travel to destinations around the globe to take classes in an environment much different than their own. This is a great time to experience the ins and outs of world politics, food, environment, culture, history and nature. The options for student travel for learning purposes ranges from Wales to Brazil to maritime exploration on the Pacific to South African medical study.

Spring Break

You may see many destinations listed for the best Spring Break hot spots for student travel, decorating the television screen as you flick through MTV during the springtime. Filled with margaritas and late-night clubbing, Cancun is one of the craziest places to attract the most Spring Breakers. Sandy beaches in Mexico provide just the right atmosphere to accommodate students who need a hefty dose of unwinding, while the energy of Las Vegas never stops.

Additional popular student travel choices for Spring Break include Acapulco, floating hotels in Negril, Jamaica, Shell Island and Panama City, Florida, Daytona Beach, the white beaches of Nassau, Bahamas and the ski resorts in Colorado.

Educational Conference

In regard to student travel, being chosen to represent your college at a conference is a great honor, depending on the subject. Not only will you get a chance to learn outside of the campus, but also enjoy all of the exciting acquaintances and city scenery you may come across during a trip. School-related conferences are just the thing to take a break from monotonous campus life.

Home For the Holidays

The most common times for student travel is when the holidays roll around. Thanksgiving and Christmas are some of the perfect times to visit family and friends. Whether it’s taking a road trip to reacquaint yourself with hometown hospitality or flying in to meet with the parents of your significant other, there are plenty of reasons for students to travel during the holiday season.

Student travel is a common activity that many colleges and universities both encourage, as well as make possible. Whether student travel is used to learn about specific cultures, relieve stress, gain new experiences or revisit the past, the possibilities serve as a never-ending adventure. It is through student travel that individuals have time to truly find themselves and conquer the world as up and coming adults.

yes, i posted this b4, but i would like more answers :)
i moved to a new house a few months ago, and i want to redecorate it. i am not aloud to change the color of the wall, which is teal on the top half and tan on the bottom half. here is what i love to do:

~ text
~ hang out with friends
~ shopping
~ planning parties
~ create/design (i am super creative, and almost everyone i meet agrees because i always go over the top with things and they end up looking amazing)
~ swimming (like in my pool or at the beach)
~ fashion, and following trends

as you can tell, i am very girly. but i also love doing other things too. i want a space where i ca relax when i get home from school, but also have lots on fun with friends when they come over. so what theme/design should i do? or what should i put in the room? i already have a flat screen TV, laptop, dresser, and bunk bed. i want to stick with the colors teal, chocolate brown, lime green, and maybe purple. thanks!!!!!!!!

Why not a tropical theme? The colors seem to go with it. In my opinion setting up a tropical scene sort to speak seems to be a relaxing and enjoyable environment at the same time. After all people go to beaches and exotic place for vacation and reccreational activities. This will get visitors can expierence that feeling without distant traveling. Hope this helps.

Creating a Home That Reflects Your Unique Sense of Style

Posted by Jade Martins on Feb-16-2010

Everyone deserves to live in a home that adds beauty to their everyday lives. However, many people feel intimidated, confused and overwhelmed when it comes to creating a home that truly reflects who they are and their own unique sense of style. By following these easy steps you will be well on your way to creating a living space that will make you feel comfortable and “at home” because it reflects who you are.

1)    Get Inspired…
Who are you? What do you like? Where do you vacation? What colors are you drawn to? These are all questions that need to be answered…by you. For a bit of help, visit a bookstore, grab a latte and dig into the limitless supply of home magazines and books. As you begin to notice rooms, colors, ideas that get your attention, make note, buy those magazines and when you get them home start tearing out pages and marking what it is that grabbed you. You may need to do this a few times before you have a pretty good collection of “visions” to consider. You should begin to see some similarities developing in color and style.

2)    Consider Your Senses…
You spend more time in your home than anyone else; therefore, it should be a place that makes you feel good. What is “good” to you? Cozy? Luxurious? Casual? Elegant? Formal? Relaxed? Light & Airy? Think about places you’ve visited that have renewed you, nourished you, excited or relaxed you. Was it a cozy country cottage inn? A light and airy beach bungalow? An elegant French chateau?
What kind of place feed your senses, nourish your soul? When you define those elements you’ll want to then look for ways to incorporate them into your home.

3)    Relax…
Once the pieces begin to come together…relax! Reflect, ponder, dream and envision your home becoming a sanctuary that welcomes you in and hugs you each time you come through the door. A place that makes you smile when you think of it. A haven you just can’t wait to get to get back to.
YES! Your home can be all of that! and more!

4)    Get Comfortable…
Now you’re almost ready to make your game plan, but first you need to get comfortable with color!
Many of you are needlessly living with off-white walls simply because you’re afraid of color! Fear not! Color is a wonderful way to express your style. Color affects our mood and can set the tone and mood in a room in a way that off-white just can’t do! In the process of collecting your visions you came across colors that drew your attention, spoke to you. One of the best ways to transition into using color on your walls is to bring those pictures to the paint store, find those colors and buy them in the smallest size you can. Get some foam project boards and put 3 to 4 coats of your color on 2 or 3 boards. Then live with them for awhile. Move them around your room, look at them in daylight, candlelight, sunset, sunrise…you get the idea! This will help you become comfortable with the color. If it’s not quite right, go back to the paint store and try a lighter or darker version. Repeat the same process until you come up with just the right color. Then, after steps 5 & 6, go for it! You’ll be glad you did!

5)    Make a Plan…
Now is when you’re going to put action into place! Make a list of all you want to accomplish in your home to transform it into your vision. Don’t hold back! Dream…be outrageous, if necessary! Of course you can’t do it all at once, but you need to have it written down so you can make a plan of action.
Once you’ve completed your list begin to prioritize the items. Where do you want to begin? What will be the second project, etc. When you’ve decided on your first project, break it down into smaller, manageable steps. Remember, “You can eat an elephant, one bite at a time.” My suggestion for the first place to begin is your bedroom. I know no one sees it except…you. Isn’t that the very reason why you’re on this journey? Your bedroom is the first place you see every morning and the last place you see every night!
Doesn’t it make sense to make it the first place you transform into a sanctuary that reflects who you are?

6)    Make Choices…
Now is the time to look at the elements in the space you’ve decided to transform. Look around…what do you see? Are there pieces you love? Keep those! Items you really dislike? Get rid of them! Things you’re not sure about? Remove them for now; perhaps you’ll bring them back at a later date. By removing elements you don’t like and those you’re not sure about you’ll free your mind to consider other options in their place. Now, what do you need to make the space complete? Make your list and begin the adventure of finding just the right pieces that reflect your style. This is a process, be patient, better to live with an empty space than to fill it with something that you don’t absolutely love.
When you are on this adventure, look everywhere. Traditional stores, thrift shops, discount stores, auctions, etc. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find once you’ve defined your style and have a focus!
If something “speaks to your heart,” don’t walk away from it. Whatever it is, because you love it, it will work in your home. When you consistently bring things home that you love they will eventually all work together.

7) Enjoy!
You are well on your way to creating a home that is uniquely you! Be sure to make time to enjoy it and remember to enjoy the process along the way. Your home should be ever evolving, with little changes and updates every so often.

…I’m on vacation with my boyfriend… we fly (by plane) to a tropical paradise– somewhere near Thailand, Vietnam, or maybe the Seychelles– to an island, with a name that begins with the letter ‘P’… we arrive at the place we’ll be staying, suitcases in hand– it’s not a hotel, but a beautiful dream home, that we’ve managed to purchase somehow– I’m overjoyed– we’ll be living there, from now on– in a series of charmingly rustic wooden cabins– the cabins are on stilts– each cabin contains a single room (most of the rooms are square, or rectangular in shape) & they stretch from the white sand beach, out into the turquoise water, connected to each other by suspension bridges made of rope & wooden slats. We enter the first cabin, and begin to explore our new home– each cabin leading to the next, on and on… cabin, suspension bridge, cabin, suspension bridge… the turquoise water is breathtakingly beautiful, & calm… there are no glass panes in the cabin windows– the windows are square, open to the air; they frame the sea & sky, so that it looks like a painting, and balmy, sea breezes pour in… the cabins are spare– most contain no furniture at all, or else they are simply decorated– one room contains a single woven hammock– another has a white canopy bed, and a marble & oak washstand– another contains a few large, red clay vases, a few seashells (yoni symbolism?), and a Japanese pottery incense burner, w/ wonderfully fragrant Tibetan incense burning in it… most of the rooms are empty, though– I don’t mind… I’m just so happy, to be in my dream home… the last cabin door lets out onto the steps of an enormous ziggurat (sp?), made of white sand, rising from the aquamarine water, and almost reaching the sun– I begin to climb its steps, and I wake up– trying to remember the name of the island, whose name begins with the letter ‘P,’ and maybe has an ‘S’ in it– something like pagos, or maybe pesache???

This is an indication of your being content, even with the many changes occurring in your life. Your emotional affairs are good and bound to get better as you aspire to higher things. This is a good dream, nothing sexual, more spiritual. Expect changes to happen quickly. Be patient and you’ll come through them well.

Mathew 25:40 Obama`s favorite Bible passage.

Obama`s half brother earns 3 cents a day, lives in a shed and bare handed fights for his life. 3 cents a day is about $12 a year.

George, at 25 the youngest of Obama’s father’s seven children, has met his famous big brother just twice.

He was just five when Mr Obama visited Kenya for the first time in 1988 and made a special trip out to his mother Jael’s shanty home. Obama and George met again briefly two years ago when senator Obama was campaigning for Raila Odinga and he visited the family. George told the magazine that he was homeless at the time.

He said he spent 10 years living on the streets before recently moving into his shack, which he has decorated with Italian football posters and a calendar showing exotic paradise beaches of the world.

"Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don’t even arrest you they just shoot you.

"I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists."

Hey Obama give me his address and I`ll send him $20 and more than double his standard of living. That would be the minimum a Christian who loves Mathew 25 could do.

My profile: That is really weak and very inaccurate.
Flip ant: You are so right. However the reason he doesn`t bring them to America is as an Elitist Leftist he is ashamed of them and his own country. Better to just leave them there in the squaller of Kenya.

Ya Obama’s such a great guy isnt he? At the very least he could bring his step brother to the USA at the very least!
