Floor Rugs That Add Elegance And Style

Posted by Kansas Worthington on Nov-4-2010

It happened to me before, but something is missing in your home. Don’t worry about the alarms, they’re all working properly. You most likely don’t have any idea too, what that missing something is. That “missing something” is floor rugs. Having a drab-looking area in a house can happen to anyone. Interior designers recognize the value of floor rugs in this scenario.

The same applies for homes, too. You’ve bought everything your homes need but you know something is still missing. But it could be as simple as the proper placement of the right floor rugs. Aside from its practical uses, floor rugs were used as decorations too, for many centuries now. One of the most famous types of rugs, the Persian rug, was introduced to Western Europe in the 17th century with the opening of trade routes.

We should be thankful to a Russian archeologist who found the oldest surviving floor rug. It was found in 1949 during the excavation of a Siberian burial site. The carpet, known as “Pazyryk”, dates back to the 5th century BC. The way it was created was categorized as Scythian art. It’s just common sense to know first what type of floor rugs you need. They can have multiple uses, depending on the room and the rug’s design. Floor rugs can function as the focal point of the whole room’s design.

Once a floor rug is chosen, select furniture pieces that will compliment this rug. But floor rugs can be used vise versa, as a compliment to the design of the entire room. Rooms with busy interiors can be complimented with simple and symmetrically designed floor rugs. Rugs are not only for decorations, they are useful in other ways, too. High-traffic areas of a room need the protection of strategically placed floor rugs. There are different ways of taking care of your floor rugs.

Vacuum the rugs properly, going over the entire area. When one area of the rug starts to fade because people walk on them the most, rotate the rug around. Stains from spilled coffee, wine, colas, milk, and other food should be spot-cleaned immediately. Absorbent towels are always handy to have around in the event of liquid being spilled. You can also take your floor rugs to specialist cleaning companies, especially the more valuable rugs. If you have a place in your home that looks plain and uninteresting, interior designers often recommend putting floor rugs to improve the area.

Remember though, not to rub on the rug, as this will spread the stain. If you choose wisely, floor rugs are usually all that you need to liven up a drab part of your home. They can reinvent a room, or compliment existing decorations. We shouldn’t let our living rooms to feel and look cold and boring, that’s why we need the right rugs for this. Patterns and colors of the floor rugs can make a small room look bigger. Even interior designers sometimes have dull-looking areas in their homes, but now, just like them, you know that the quickest solution to this is usually the right floor rugs.
