Romantic dinners

Posted by mitch on Aug-30-2010

The economy is really getting into my nerves. My husband and I were in the middle of budgeting when I blurted out that we don’t even have extra money just to go on a dinner date. My husband really laughed at me. Yesterday, I came early from work only to find that the kids were in my in-laws.  My husband welcomed me with a kiss as usual but there was something sneaky in the way he smiles. When I told him I’ll cook dinner,  he said he needs to talk about something so we went into the yard. Out there was a candle lit setup of dinner. The iron patio furniture and swing were even showered with red and pink rose petals. It was my husband’s version of dinner date!

Types of interior shutters you should consider

Posted by mitch on Aug-29-2010

I’ve been a mom for more than 40 years (no divulging of age!). Anyway, my point is that I want to share what I’ve learned about housekeeping. There are two types of interior shutters that you should consider in this lifetime. I think you should just go for vinyl when you really don’t have the budget for interior shutters. You know, the emergency situations when your shutters fail on you when you most need it. Wood interior shutters, on the other hand, should be your choice if you have the budget. They really last well. The downside is that you might have to varnish or repaint them to make them look always new.

Classic appeal

We have this very difficult client that we didn’t want to work with anymore. Oh well, we just wished we could do it. The god thing about her is that she often recommends us to other friends who also need interior designing. The last project I handled for her is a small hotel at the country. She wants to have a classic looking interiors but at the same time attain a minimalist look. However, she required us to use the traditional wood plantation shutters you’ll find in most Southern homes. She’s a very picky customer but I guess we were able to capture the classic appeal she was looking for.

Help from friends

You know, I recently found out that I have the best bunch of friends in the whole wide world! I was getting so worried because the office I work in is moving to a smaller office space. Since it’s a small office, we juggle multi-tasking a lot. I was assigned to map out the positioning of the furniture. It was very hard because we have bulky office furniture. I don’t even have any background in interior design. When I told my friends about it over beer, they laughed at me saying that there is modular office furniture that I can use to replace old cubicles. I told my boss about it and she says it’s okay. She also agreed to hire a freelance interior designer.

Wood maintenance

My mom’s small inn is up for a renovation next week. So, we had to be there just to ensure that she has help whenever she needs it. I drove in early to the inn yesterday and was caught by surprise. There were a lot of bed headboards in the reception area of the inn. The small conference room became the storage of bed frames. I got so curious because I can’t find the logic of separating the bed headboards from the frame. It turns out, my mom is having them re varnished and probably do some carvings to make them look new.

Emergencies

My friends and I decided to finish our school project at my classmate’s house. We were so busy that we forgot about time. When I called my mom to pick me up, she says she’s already getting worried of me not yet home because there was heavy snow. I looked out in the windows and it was true. Apparently, we got so warmed up at my friend’s house that we didn’t notice of the blizzard. We were forced to stay at my friend’s house for the night since it’s too dangerous to travel. My mom arranged to pick up early in the morn so I could prepare for school the next day. Good thing my friend has spare cot bed mattress and beds for the whole group.

Sleeping over because of work

Posted by mitch on Aug-27-2010

My best friend and colleague at work Sheena let me stayed for  the night yesterday. We got so much stuff to finish at work so we had to extend working hours. It was until around 2 a.m. when we finished. She said I should just pass the day at her house which was just a shirt drive away. I slept at her mother’s room because her parents are away for the week. I told her I had a very good night sleep last night. I ws even wondering if there was something special in the bed or I’m just dead tired. She told me her parents use luxury mattress because of old age. I think that’s the difference.
