Tips on making a small bedroom appear larger?
I recently purchased my first home and am in the processing of decorating. My master bedroom is a bit smaller than previously (at my apartment). My bed is queen sized so it tend to take up a lot of room so I am looking for some tips to make the room appear larger.
Getting rid of the bed is not an option right now because I don’t have the money to replace it. I know that light colors will make the room appear more spacious but do you guys have any more tips for me?
Let plenty of sunshine in bright lights at nighttime….and a dresser with a big mirror will make it appear more spacious. Any mirrors in general will do. The more simple you keep it, the larger it will appear…meaning easy on the nic-naks (sp?) and busy patters for the beadspread and curtains.
Shelves on the walls to put stuff. Mirrors..lots of mirrors. Get rid of bric brac crud. Go for the minimalist look.

I had the same problem, walls, floor and ceiling need to be light colors. Furniture dark. If closet space is limited, use bins under bed for storage. Also, curtains, and bedding need to be medium to dark colors.

A large mirror always makes the room look bigger. Also, don’t clutter the room with unneeded furniture

mirrors, if possible buy the cheap full length kind in the frames, you know, people use to hang them on the inside of the closet door, anyway, depending on how big your wall is, hang 3-4 on just one wall. you’ll be surprised how good they look and improve your room. my cousin did this in her bedroom and tiny dining room, it looks great.

The light color thing in an illusion. Add a spunky color for punch, then you and others will look at how fabulous it looks and not is size.
Its a matter of distraction. I do agree with going minimalist and a tailored look. That would be less cluttered.
