Decorating Your Kitchen

It takes more than a nice set of curtains and stone flooring to make a kitchen the most inviting place in the home. There are decorative accessories that can be strategically placed throughout the kitchen eating areas that make people want to visit the kitchen often and they never seem to leave empty handed.

With a decorative cow teapot, people may be enticed into enjoying a cup of cocoa on a stormy night, or brew a delicious pot of tea that can soothe sore throats during the cold season. With enticing brilliance, people might be lured to grab fresh bananas on their way out that are hanging from a decorative chrome banana holder.

Ceramic glazed crocks may tempt some family members into enjoying hearty soup and crackers while watching their favorite sports event on television. These ceramic crocks could also be used to create individual dinner casseroles that are ready to be served at any time of the night and are perfect for families that have busy schedules. These crocks are easy to microwave and present piping hot meals to families on a budget.

A ceramic apple cookie jar might fit a cozy kitchen décor that is colored in green, and accented with cozy checker board table coverings that make the whole room zing. Stylish homemakers might choose to decorate their kitchen counters with decorative stone trivets, and provide grapevine napkin holders at coffee serving areas that make people glad they are home.

Kitchen tools will be right at home in a handy apple tool crock that blends in quite nicely with a country kitchen décor. Peppermills and matching salt shakers will give people ample opportunity to add some spice to their life without going overboard. For the gifted cook, a stainless steel spice rack would provide just the right flavoring touch to many meals served throughout the year. The natural hardwood racks seem to blend in with any kitchen decor and the delightful spin during each use adds more fun to a talented cooks of day.

Any home will benefit from the delicious smells that sneak out of the kitchen and some of those smells will not necessarily come from cooking efforts within those four walls. With scented candles lit throughout the home, a homemaker can evoke a relaxing atmosphere to many areas of the home with very little effort.

Children always love treats and crafty cooks can choose to keep it simple by supplying decorative ice cream sets that can add just the right pick me up after a trip to the doctor’s office, or they can use the decorative bowls and cups to create majestic ice cream castles that kids can boast about to all of their friends when they go back to school.

It’s always good to have extra plates and saucers in the home that can be used without fear of breakage. With decorative designs of grape leaves on vine to add a stylish touch, homemakers can serve delights at dinner parties in style at a very affordable price. All accessories that you use to serve your guests should reflect a part of yourself, and using clever color choices can have a tremendous effect on the overall style of a very welcoming kitchen decor.

    do you think decorating your kitchen in cupcakes is cute for a 26 year old female?
    I really want to do my kitchen in cupcakes because i am always baking and find them cute. My boyfriend is letting me paint my kitchen pink. what do you guys think about that?

  2. Me Said,

    I think it would be ‘cutesy’, but I’d worry that it would become too busy, or could become too much if you’re not careful. Sorry, but when I hear cupcake I instantly think of baby dolls and piggy tails. LOL It’s your kitchen, do whatever you like. If it makes you feel happy, then nothing else matters. I’d prepare for some lifted eyebrows if you do much entertaining though.

    A lot of cupcakes (or god forbid a cupcake border) will look way too cutsey. Like a 6 year old designed the kitchen.

    I would stick to one big print of a cupcake in a nice frame with a matte. It could look super cute over a table. Something like one of these:

    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=38062042&ref=sr_gallery_6&&ga_search_query=cupcake+panel&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes=tags&includes=title
    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=40120287&ref=sr_gallery_5&&ga_search_query=cupcake+print&ga_search_type=&ga_page=2&includes=tags&includes=title
    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26592240&ref=sr_gallery_4&&ga_search_query=cupcake+print&ga_search_type=&ga_page=2&includes=tags&includes=title
    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34675903&ref=sr_gallery_12&&ga_search_query=cupcake+print&ga_search_type=&ga_page=3&includes=tags&includes=title

    You could also add one ceramic piece like this:

    Then I would stop. Those things plus much else would be overkill.

    I think a pink kitchen could look cute, just don’t go too bubblegum with the color. This is nice: http://www.pointclickhome.com/image/tid/3559?page=1 (photo 2)

  4. Jaimie Said,

    That reminds me of a child’s bedroom actually. Besides that, themed rooms, especially kitchens, are not something that’s "in" anymore. It will probably look really tacky, like my neighbor’s cow themed kitchen.

    If you love cupcakes that much, maybe just have a few cupcake related items, but don’t make your whole kitchen cupcake themed.

    It depends on what your boyfriend think .. If its color pink it is okay , But i am not sure about the cupcakes .. Try asking your boyfriend what he thinks ..

    I think if you want your kitchen pink and accented with cupcakes, then you should do it. Just because I would not want that, does not mean anything. It is your kitchen, be happy with it. But if you ever plan on selling your home, then I would strongly suggest a more neutral palette to get you more return on your home. Have fun decorating!!
