What are your christmas traditions?

Posted by Jade Martins on Mar-1-2010

I really like starting new traditions and I figured that this being my sons first Christmas I’d like to start some sort of tradition that continues on for years to come. What are some of your traditions you’d like to share?

The kids and I make chocolate covered pretzels for our family members. We decorate them with sprinkles and put them in mason jars with fabric, ribbon and a note. The kids love it and look forward to the day of dipping every year!

We make food or cookies~something together

  6. Julie C Said,

Our tradition is the kids get to open one early present from us! We get to pick which one of course. They look forward to what day it will fall on and what it will be. The other thing that we do is to go the 2nd day after Christmas to an indoor waterpark to stay the night. This one you might start later in life with your child, but my two boys love looking forward to going. We go to FunCity in Burlington, Iowa. Enjoy!!

My older girls (they’re 7 & 5) help me make cookies and brownies and fudge and all the kids decorate them. We all decorate the tree together (although my husband and I usually "adjust" the tree afterward because all the ornaments are on the bottom 1/3 of it!). We do church on Christmas Eve and then spend time with my sister and her kids (ages 17 and 13) and then on Christmas Day we have a family morning and then all my siblings, my parents, and I all meet up to have dinner together at one of our houses.

  8. B Said,

We open one present on Christmas Eve, then in the morning we wake up the parents and open the rest, then go out to breakfast with the whole family (pretty much all family on my mom’s side that lives in town), then we often part our separate ways.
