Home Decorating and Interior Design Ideas

Let’s keep it in the spirit in which it’s asked please – whether you are a christian or anything else – really… what NICE Family traditions do you most love, remember and continue each year?

My dad likes the traditions of:
1: Open NOTHING before Christmas morning (that means nothing on Christmas Eve), and only the Christmas stockings before everyone is there around the tree together.
2: Dad needs to get up and shave and maybe have a shower or something like that before he comes into the living room. Presents a problem, see #1.
3: Wrapping presents in duct tape

The traditions the rest of us get behind:
1: We make candy (fudge, divinity, turtles, etc) and other treats, and then take them to our friends, family and neighbors. I now continue this one on my own now that I’m out of the house.
2: Go looking at Christmas lights (I do this with my roommates now as well)
3: Watch A Christmas Story and It’s A Wonderful Life every year

Well….I’m a christian! And every Christmas morning when I wake up Mom will be cooking a yummy breakfast and while she cooks we look in our stalkings! Than we all sit down to a nice family breakfast (I have 5 sisters and 1 brother) Than we go down stairs to where we put up the tree and we take turns opening our presents! than we get ready to go to my grandpa’s house! At Grandpa’s house first we take turns opening our presents there than later we hav dinner and than we just watch bunches of Christmas Movies!! :) And that’s my family tridiotions for christmas! (We don’t do Santa Clause)

  3. The Queen Said,

~ We start off the Christmas season by going to "Winterfest" – a Christmas festival our city has the first Saturday of December every year. We have pictures taken with Santa, the kids get to play with "trucked in" snow, and we have our traditional hot cocoa afterwards.
~ Allowing the children to open one gift if they can stay up until midnight on Christmas Eve.
~ We make gingerbread houses (from kits) with the kids the first Saturday of their Winter Break from school.
~ Driving through neighborhoods the week before Christmas to see all the decorated house and lights, AFTER picking up hot cocoa and doughnuts : )
~ Drinking eggnog on Christmas morning.
~ Loaded Christmas stockings…with all kinds of goodies from candy to make-up to little toys, pencils, etc. (most from the 99cents or Dollar Tree Stores!) so loaded we have to use Christmas lunch bags below them to hold everything.
~ Baking many different kinds of cookies with the kids the week before Christmas..
~ On Christmas Eve we bake cupcakes and give one to everyone in the house and sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus.

BTW, we are Christians, and have a friend who looks like Santa Claus, who does parties and tells the nativity story to the children, and we let the kids believe in Santa until they’re old enough to know better : )

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!
