what should my wedding colors be?
Posted by Jade Martins on Jan-29-2010
i am getting married in jamaica in november, then having a reception when i get home the folowing saturday. the reception hall is an italian restuarant. i would say the banquet room only somewhat reflects that. its a tan room with high cielings with bowl shaped dark yellowish light fixtures. i think i want to go with light blue, cream and chocolate colors because i could do oceanic/beach theme. but the reception will be in oklahoma in november- so i also thought autumn colors would be nice. im open to any ideas though. what do you think?!?! what colors would you use? how would you decorate?
Go with the tropical colors to reflect where you had your wedding. Who cares what season it is!

You should get your color pallate done by a prfessional. THen out of those colors choose the more earthy tones because it’ll be autumn/winter…

i like the idea for blue i think you should go with a aqua blue, for me personally autumn colors are not bright or happy enough for me

It sounds like you already have a pretty clear vision of how you want it to look. The colors you mentioned here sound lovely. Go with that.
Congratulations!

Seriously, the time and location dont have to be a factor! If you like polka dot and purple do that!
If you wan to go with a matching theme with the restaurant then I’d say Chocolate brown and Burgundy.
I think the blue idea of yours would also go well too, since it would look like the blue Carribean waters.

red and gold is always beautiful at weddings.
So is blue and silver.

Congratulations! cream looks great with yellow in a tropical setting! BUT – What about forest green and magenta – like bouganvilla ( the flowering bush you shall see a lot of in the Caribbean) – its bold, but really fun – as for oklahoma in november – what is the weather like – I live in Cal where its warm still usually.

I think I would go with autumn colors, golds, bronze, yellows and brown (or chocolate.)

My colors are claret which is a deep red color. My wedding gown in ivory/ cream. My wedding is August 8th (08-08-08) The colors are outstanding. The guys are wearing black tux’s. I know that you wanted 4 colors but I would keep it simple with just the two colors, maybe 3 at the most. Stay away from the orange and black, not wanting a halloween theme going on. The brown and light blue colors are in and if thats what you like than you should go with that!

yellow and purple?

light blue……gold…….and brown
I like your pick too those would be cute, decorate with the table linens and centerpieces……and also the chair covers

i would go with an ivory tone to bring out the halls colors but then add bold accents like orange/yellows for the Jamaican feel. use ivory table cloths & use the bold tones on the flowers, the favors, the cake, your invites, etc. that way you have the tradition of the ivory (whites) for the wedding but bring in the colors of the island and still keep the winter colors incorporated.

I you should pick colors you want… but since your asking i will tell you my opinion!
I think blues would be pretty!!
Maybe a green blue or a bright blue!
Even pinks or oranges!!!
The islandes are beautiful so maybe you could compliment it!!!
Maybe you could talk to your fiance and see what color yall both like and go from there!!! That’s what I did!
I like Teal, but that me!!!
Hope you find a solution!!!

I think your color choices that you’ve listed will work well…your wedding was in Jamaica what month it is when your back doesn’t matter.

i think it would be fun to do an ocean/ tropical theme since you were married in jamaica. i think you should use shades of blues from a teal to a baby blue and sand. you could also throw in some bright colors for the flowers. give your guests a taste of the place you just came from. maybe do a rum filled candy for your favors, jamaica is famos for it’s rum.
