Need help decorating my bathroom?
I have a contemporary decorating style throughout my home. My livingroom colors are browns, reds, and oranges. I am having a hard time finding pictures I like to hang on the wall in the bathroom. Any decorating ideas you have will be great. Thank you!
I love your style. Very now.
Stick with the same theme you already have throughout. That way, as you have done, it keeps the whole house looking well thought out & actually decorated properly.
Having said that – for your bathroom. Stick with your very trendy colour scheme. Love it!
So……buy 1 medium or large (only you now how big the bathroom is) OR 3 small blank art canvasses. Can be bought at those cheap imported stores. & the paint/brushes.
Then: Look in magazines or around you or in stores for inspiration. Find a modern pattern or something very simple.
THEN: paint it yourself. It should be, I think, very simple without too much pattern or fuss about it. It could just be as simple as one half in one colour & the other half in another colour – too easy.
Put these up on the wall after you place it or them on the floor to see how you like it first.
If you cannot find anything already made to buy for your bathroom then be a little artistic yourself. This would be an easy & cheap way to keep your colour scheme going in the bathroom as you simply use a combination of the browns, reds and oranges.
This would be a fun project for you to do.
I have done this myself with my own colour scheme for my family room & it looks great. Tied in what I have & wanted.
Have alot of fun with it if you choose to do so.
maybe a brown-ish, faded picture of a beach?

What if you tried something with cool colors? Bathrooms are like sanctuaries that should be relaxing and calming. Cool colors tend to create a mellow atmosphere.
A cool wall color with silver hardware (tp holder, shelves, etc.) and white towels and accents.

I just ordered a bunch of art from art.com they usually have pretty good deals and they have a TON of stuff to choose from!

For bathrooms, I always recommend close ups of flowers. Black and white photos with white mats and black frames would be stunning. If you prefer you could pick some fall flowers and use coloured photos.
Another idea would be to use pressed flowers in frames – again it sounds like fall colours would be best for your decorating style.
Another option I have used in my bathroom is to hang Tricia Romance prints (8 x 10′s) revolving around children in an old 18th century bathroom brushing their teeth, a Mom bathing a new baby in an 18th century house etc.
Another person had me get Anne Geddes prints for her bathroom that had her colours in them. You could find some with the colours you need.
I think that overall, the best would be black and white flowers. Remember to keep them in groups of odd numbers (depending on the print size and wall size) 3 or 5…etc.
Lay them out on the floor or measure and draw the plan on where you are hanging them first so you get it right the first time.
Good luck!

I’ve let myself go crazy in decorating my bathroom and I love it!! The main part of the house is shabby chic with lots of taupe, pale greens and deep blues. The master bed and bath is more contemporary with the rusty reds and sunflower yellow.
In the main bath I did a Finding Nemo theme. The shower curtain is an underwater scene with Nemo and his dad center stage. I also got a great border of the seagulls and pelicans and one picture of Marlin and Dory. I bought bright orange towels and rugs for the floor. I found a Nemo soap dish and toothbrush holder. I also have some great shells and sea things in there too so it’s not all Nemo. The walls are a light taupe to keep a neutral background. I love the room so much! It makes me smile everytime I walk in there. It’s just a little oasis of craziness and color and I am so happy I went with this idea.
So my suggestion is to let yourself go crazy! have fun

1] suggest using one color from living room, and one from
bedroom, if this is the only bath. Say, for example – orange and sage green. Buy a shower curtain you really like, in a pretty pattern – say orange and yellow lilies.[ with green leaves ].
2] paint walls the color you like the most – orange, yellow, or green. We’ll use yellow as the example.
3] get rugs or mats, trash can, toilet brush, etc. in darkest color – say green.
4] add accessories [ soap dish, lotion dispenser, toothbrush holder, tissue holder ] in yellow.
5] get a small plant for counter or back of tank.
6] add short, fat candle in orange or yellow.
7] get ‘full blossom’ shots [ one flower fills whole frame ] in the orange, green, and yellow, for walls.
b] frame old adds for toiletries – powder, perfume, cold cream
c] put up a floral wreath instead of or in addition to pix
d] put up prints of chemical formulas/ingredients for:
[1] water – H2O
[2] soap – oils [ or fats ], lye, and caustic soda.
[3] frame labels of your favorite product’s ingredients
e] pix of old/antique faucets, etc.
f] extreme closeups of –
[1] towel
[2] toothbrush
[3] comb
[4] drop of shampoo
