Decorating a dorm room?

How should I decorate my dorm room?
It’s 16′ x 12′
I’ll be a freshman this year, but I want to start thinking of ways to make it feel like home!
I like crafty/creative things and lots of color :)

Dorm rooms are tricky because they usually have lots of rules about what you can and can’t have. If they allow extension cords, all of the fun "party" lights are great. There are also fun products that the crafty can use….like the contact-paper-like fabric that comes in all sorts of colors and patterns. Look at party decoration sites and sections in stores. There are so many themes that there is sure to be one that pleases you. Before you get your heart set on one thing, remember that you will probably have to share your space with at least one other person….and that the actual space left (after all the essentials are in the room) will be minimal. That being said, my girls had a great time finding ways to make their space personal and fun . Make the best of your college years…the people you meet can be friends for the rest of your life!

    My dorm is pretty bland, but I had a handful of pictures and a drawing from my niece on my wall. I also put up a local map, and labeled it with bus routes and important places. I might spend more money now that I know how cool my roommate is.
