Why does only half of mini Christmas lights string work?
I saw this asked already with out a good answer. I have 8 strings but with 4, only 1/2 of the lights work. Why? Yes, I’ve thrown out many sets and bought more but these are new last year and it happens too often. And no it’s not a burnt out bulb – the lit side has a couple burned out and it works fine. Why exactly 1/2 and what is the cause?
No it’s not the circuit! How would a circuit issue light half a string of lights on only some strings in any outlet???
kay kay. I don’t know. The lit side had 6 burnt bulbs and worked fine! I guess 1 thing that freaks me out it the half string thing.
it actually IS a burnt out bulb that is keeping them from working…they can work with one or two burnt out but 3-5 seems to be the magic number in them not working…It’s a pain but you will have to pull the bulbs one by one and test them…weather, use, and normal wear and tear makes them burst(inside) so then the string won’t work. I’ve had the same problem year after year and I always find the problem to be just one more bulb burnt out

is it some problem with the circuit? u should get it checked by an electrician. don’t delay – check the circuit as soon as possible. (i had a somewhat similar problem at my house – i didn’t pay attention to it, and a short circuit took place.)

Don’t waste time fixing it. Lights are only $1-2 now, just buy a new box, this way they don’t burn out during Christmas
