Our new pre-lit Christmas tree has multicolored lights on it. In the past, we’ve always used cheapy ornaments to decorate our small tree that we just got rid of. So this year, I want to stock up on some nice basic ornaments to cover it with, and then include our personal ornaments that we’ve been collecting over the years. What color or types of garland, bulbs, tree topper, etc would look nice with multicolored lights, without making the tree look too loud or overwhelming?

I use multicolored lights as well and I use silver garland, silver, blue, gold, red, and purple bulbs along with our personal ornaments. For the top we either put a gold star or a angel that is dressed in blue and silver. If you keep a nice mixture of dark and light colored ornaments it wont look to loud.

For our tree we basically do the same thing as you, now we use white lights but in the past we have used multicolored ones, we have always put gold garland on it that looks like this:

For your nice basic ornaments i would should simple glass bulbs like these(we use red, green, gold, silver):

For a tree topper we use an angel and although we are not religious i just adds a nice touch so id suggest something like this:

or just get a start tree topper to put on it.

THis is what we do with our tree and it always turns out really nice, so i hope i helped.

Having multicolored lights leaves you lots of possibilities for decorating. You could go with one theme of colors, like silver or gold, or you could use different colors (the colors of the lights). There are some nice, cheap, basic glass ball ornaments that you can find in stores like Walmart or another place like that. Even though they are cheap, the ornaments might last longer than you expect. I know that I’ve bought cheapo ornaments, and they’ve lasted me for quite a few years now. Personally, I don’t like to overload my Christmas tree with garlands. I think that strands of beads (silver or gold) make the tree look nice and aren’t too big and obnoxious. Regarding the tree-topper: you can find many different kinds of tree-toppers in a lot of different stores, and many of them are quite nice (even if they are cheap). Personally, if I have multicolored lights on the tree, I like to have a tree-topper that is fiberoptic. Those ones are pretty cheap, look really nice, and go through the whole color spectrum. So, you get all of your colors in one! They are actually pretty cool.

I hope this helps! Good luck! I’m sure whatever you decide will look nice.

    ;)
