As if some shops have put up their xmas decorations ALREADY?

Posted by Jade Martins on Dec-16-2009

I was out shopping yesterday and I went into one shop that already had the xmas decs up. Is it just me, or is it far to early for that? It’s October 2nd.
When do you put your decs up? We put them up around 13th December.

There is one store here that has had their windows all x-mased up and decorations for sale or almost a month now. I’m not a fan of decorating for x-mas anyway, but COME ON! At least get thru Thanksgiving and Halloween first! most businesses put theirs out beginning of Nov here (Thanksgiving and Halloween are both in Oct)

I know, it’s SO annoying! I think it’s faaaaaaaaaaaaaar too early for that. I mean it hasn’t even been Halloween yet!

I guess those shops are just advertising for Christmas now so people buy their products and do their Christmas shopping early.

Christmas is probably the most celebrated occasion in history. Like in Christianity, it’s the birthdate of Jesus Christ.

Anyway, our family usually puts up the Christmas decorations about mid-way too.

some of the bigger shops in my area had their christmas departments open around the middle of August, now that "IS" disgusting. I personally try not to get too invovled in christmas until after halloween as thats too much fun to spoil.

There was a interview with one department store about this very subject and it boiled down to this. If people were not buying their goods from that time, and there was not the demand for christmas items from the middle of August, they would not be putting them up then. Simple.

Decorations for the STORE, or decorations to BUY? But whichever, there have been about 50 of these questions asked in the last month. Basically, it’s a pretty even split. Some people are enraged by it. Some are sent into a euphoria by it. There’s really very little "middle ground."

The Enraged think: Good God it’s September/October, how can they do this? It’s all about money, it disgusts me! They shouldn’t put them up until at least December! They are only in it for the money and have turned Christmas into a bunch of commercialized crock.

The Euphoric think: Yay! I’m happy about it. A lot of people have to spread buying out over several months. This gives them a chance to do so. I think it’s great, they help put people in the Christmas Spirit, the spirit of giving and sharing.
