I need unique gift to give away to our wedding guests.?

Posted by Jade Martins on Dec-15-2009

I have been given wine before, candles, matches. I need something different and unique. Not a picture of us though I think that is tacky especially people you are not very close with. That is a present for the bridal party. The only idea I had was maybe Christmas Ornaments?? Help.

Don’t.
It is a waste of your valuable time and resources. Unfortunately most of your guests will leave them. I dislike donations to charities. Most are political and have nothing to do with your wedding.

I think the best thing is to have your guests come away with good memories of the great time they had.

Stick with something edible or a charitable donation. Anything else is going to get left behind or thrown in the trash. Sad but true.

what is the theme of the wedding? Perhaps that would help us think of something unique?

Candy bars are always a hit.

I actually like the Christmas Ornaments idea. I think its great and definitely unique! Buy ones that tie into your theme but that people would want to use. If you are having a fall or winter wedding this would work even better!

I like the ornament idea. I went to a wedding where the favors were hand-woven christmas bulbs, with tiny silk flowers and bows at the top. I thought they were different, and lovely. Christmas ornaments are something that people are more likely to keep for years and years – I know I did! Congrats on the wedding!

I am getting married in 2 months and we are doing glass shot glasses w/ our names and the date on them. A shot glass is something almost everyone will use and won’t through away. I bought 175 for $188, that was including my shipping, insurance and screen set up fee. They run about .61 each which is really cheap for a wedding favor.

Since many people now have ‘theme’ or color themed trees, I’m not sure I would do ornaments. It sounds like you are looking at a Christmas time wedding, how about Christmas Cacti? You can get some great deal on the cactus plants as well as Amaryllis or Paperwhites bought in bulk. Plant them in colorful pots in your colors. They can double as centerpieces too! I have a Christmas Cactus that is about 10 years old and it keeps on blooming right on schedule!

    Good Luck

They have those plant able cards that sprout flowers. I was going to do that until I saw personalized shot glasses which is what I’m doing. My wedding is in Vegas so it works perfect with a little bottle of liquor. I’m also including personalized cocktail mixes with it.

How about adorned boxes filled with chocolate? Or wine stoppers? Or a silver key with a tag that says Key to my heartthat can be engraved with the couples names?

Take what your theme maybe and find something unique about it and incorporate that into your theme. My daughter is having a quince and because she’s girlie her party favors are miniature high heel shoes…

I assume you’re having a December wedding. Christmas ornaments are a great idea, depending on your budget. "Nice" ones usually start at $10 each, so if you’re having a wedding of around 100 people, it can get pretty expensive. I do love the idea! But if you’re watching your costs, that could add up quickly for nice ones. (Cheap ornaments *look* cheap and will be thrown out.)

What about tree saplings or seeds? CDs of songs that you guys love?

Other than that, I think most things like candles, matches, etc, get thrown out.

Food (chocolate, etc) and charitable donations are among the very few things that people don’t throw in the garbage.

I’ve been to weddings where each woman received a single red, long stemmed rose. That would be pretty inexpensive. I also enjoy a single piece of chocolate wrapped in foil (maybe a heart) right at the placesetting. You can make the heart candy yourself. I’ve also received small bottles of liquor, although that’s more expensive. You might be able to pick up alot of items at the dollar store.

I agree with edible or charitable donation. Cookies are good, or a collection of you and SO’s favorite candies.

One other option I’m planning to do: we’re purchasing local wildflower seeds and packaging them to give to guests. In this instance, the location of the wedding has special meaning to us, and the local wildflowers will grow in most of our guests gardens.

http://www.americanmedows.com sells wildflower seeds. You can choose your favorites, or find ones native to your area.

I am getting married in October and we are giving CDs of our favorite songs and we are doing a charitable donation. As a parting gift, we are also setting up a "sweet dreams" candy buffet so that guest can load up on sweets and candy before they leave. This will omit the task of putting candy in little boxes or organza wrapping.

    Hope this helps!

You are worrying too much, this is the least important aspect of your wedding.

I gave chocolate truffles, in a box with a ribbon that had our names and wedding date on it.

I do not even think favors are needed.

Ornaments can get expensive if bought, or time-consuming if made! But it is a good idea!

I know where you can can great chocolate favors that are absolutely delicious if you are interested!

At my nephew’s wedding, they had pine tree seedlings attached to a sentimental card. I know they ordered them online, but don’t know where. They were made up very elegantly with a satin ribbon tied on the card. Guests could plant them in a pot and when they started to get rather large, into the ground.
