Can you make a business out of selling selfmade xmas decorations if so how would you start your own business?
Yes, if they are quality and unique decorations Remember, however, this is seasonal so you may want to think about other holidays that you can also make decorations to use.
First, make a note book and as you complete one decoration, take a photo so you have crafts to show that you have made. Secondly, check out what flee markets, bazaars, craft shows, etc that are going to be held in your community plus consider having your own craft sale at your home but you MUST advertise like you would for a rummage or garage sale. Third, check out E-Bay and also use those photos that you have to have your crafts shown on the site. Take into consideration what your costs are to make these decorations as well as all other costs involved and then set your price. Remember, however, you are in a competitive market. You could also take flyers around that you have printed up to upscale neighborhoods with photos on the flyers and the prices plus, of course, your phone number where you can be reached if they wish to place an order. Do this early in the Fall so you have time to make them as the orders come in. Don’t forget to include the cost of shipping and postage if you have to mail the decorations. Buy your art supplies on sale only or get them wholesale. You may need to check out if you have to have a business license in your particular community. (In my community it is NOT necessary) but every place is different. Remember: Quality decorations; Pricing right so you make a nice profit; and advertise!!!
Depends on the quality of your ornaments, have you tried setting up a wep site, or eBay?

Sell them on the internet, it cuts down on overhead and work compared to selling them in person or opening a store.

Good luck.
I know I would not buy expensive stuff – just me – because Christmas is already too expensive as it is.
Try to do a market research first….

Get a web site and advertise it with search engines, such as google and yahoo. Try eBay also.

It’s a long way to Christmas. Maybe try out Easter decorations and list them on ebay to see what people think of them.
