Ideas for decorating home gym?

Posted by Jade Martins on Dec-2-2009

Looking for ideas on decorating a home gym. The space is large and a perfect rectangle (about 20 x 15), carpet is blue. It’s an empty clean slate right now and I’m open to any ideas. The one requirement is that the room be ‘masculine’. Since I girlied up the rest of the house, I promised my husband that this would be a ‘mans’ room.

Need fun ideas for wall color/border, shelving, entertainment unit (have ipods and 19in TV), towel racks — we’re open to anything you can think of.

There are no windows in this room (bad idea for a gym, I know – but there are ceiling vents).

We already have two very large mirrors afixed to the wall (formerly mirrored closet doors).

make it fun and exciting. when you are working out, bright colors keep you awake to give you more enegry to keep you moving. line one wall with top to bottom mirrors. an ipod docking station with radio and timer that you can attach wireles speaker to will be good. put fans up on the walls that move so you dont get overheated. a small refridgerator is a good idea to keep cold drinks in so you dont have to keep going to the kitchen. a flat screen tv is also good. when you are watching tv, movie or ur favorite show, you concentrate on that and not how tired you are when ur working out so you can keep going, just dont overwork yourself. good luck and i hope i helped!

  5. Wanger Said,

You could get some wafer board in a shade of blue, slightly lighter or darker than the carpet and cut out figures with barbells, bumbells, and maybe even a guy punching a punching bag. Either you can use the board or if you have some artistic talent you could just paint them on the wall, but with the board if you got tired of it, you could just take it down.

    Whatta wife, whatta life !!

No windows? Good, they’re a distraction.
    Carpet and mirrors = good
    Plenty of towels and hooks.
Charts and pictures, including Arnold, in prime.
    Corkboard and blackboard for notes.
    Elevator music.
    DVDs for boring machines.
    Water….
    No phone.
    That’s my starter. Enjoy….
