Im painting and I need a site where I can compare colors

There is no web site which will give you an accurate rendering of color. Pixels are not paint and unless you have a high end monitor specifically calibrated for color, you will wind up with some surprises when trying to assess color online. Do yourself a big favor and pick up some paint chips after you’ve decided the direction in color you want to go for. It’s the only way to be sure.

My favorite site is http://www.benjaminmoore.com I like their paint because it is uniform throughout their palette. They manufacture their own tints so they have a high degree of control over their coloration, they are universally accepted by professional painters because it is high quality and readily available nationwide…and the paint has a high pigment load which means that it covers well. I do not work for them, but in my work as a design professional, it is the paint I specify most often. The website has a good room visualizer and also good information as to product, style and techniques of painting.

HGTV absolutely, tons of areas to choose from with colors, paints, techniques. I love this site, very hands on.

  5. katnkaboodle Said,

I like to use http://www.hirshfields.com. They have an online webdeck of their colors under the painting tips and ideas link (under decorating ideas).

What’s really cool is that you can click on any color to find the perfect complementary, split complementary, and analogous colors. This is a fabulous way to make sure the accent colors work and your rooms "flow" with eachother.

  6. Ryan Said,

Try this one: http://www.designingcents.com. It has a bunch of articles with decorating tips.

  7. yowza Said,

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & for $5 they’ll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
