Home Decorating and Interior Design Ideas

I like to decorate the outside of my house every year for Halloween and I’m looking for some new ideas. Our house has a lot of windows and a large front yard.

As many pumpkins, hay bales & corn shocks as you can possibly get there, first thing, for total overall atmosphere. (not to mention, you can leave those up till Thanksgiving) Since you have a lot of windows, get some black gauzy fabric & shred the ends of it, hang that up as your curtains. Soap your windows, put spiders in them. Drape Spiderweb everywhere! Any of the lights they sell in the stores, especially if you can find the Halloween icicle lights (orange or a mixture of orange, purple & green) are great on the front of the house. Get a fog machine for Halloween night – your trick-or-treaters will love that. A cd of spooky music & sounds is wonderful too. If you can spend a little – get a skeleton or two to throw around the place – hang one in the front yard from a tree or the porch. Get separate spotlights in orange or green to creat eerie atmosphere. Just get into it & have fun -stores will soon have their Halloween goodies out, so start strolling the aisles & get ideas. Decide on a theme, even. Have a great time & enjoy!! p.s. – the book I listed below might give you even more ideas; I haven’t read it yet but I have read other things by this author.

  1. LovelyEmily Said,

We always carve the word "Jesus" into a pumpkin and put it in the window.

  2. Lisa B Said,

My kids and I have put up a large scarecrow beside hay bales with lots of pumpkins and spiders in webs. We’ve also had a witch with her cauldron (you can use dry ice for the smoking bubbling effect).
If you have a lot of space in your yard go nuts… I love to decorate too.

my stepdad has fog machines one with a vampire face or something and one with a pumpkin.. and he has a lot of fake spiders and cob webs. you could try jack o lanterns, or fake tombstones. or, try brown paper bags with cut out halloween designs and put little candles in them, and have them lead up your driveway

My Uncle decorates every year. He puts a haunted maze in the yard. If ya want candy you gotta go through the maze. He has coffins, Freddies, fog machines, its really creepy. Adults are afraid to go through, crap I’m afraid to go through and I help build the thing and know all the people in the costumes.
